Great Blue Herons, Evening Light

oil on canvas, triptych, each 30"x20"
We see dozens of these magnificient birds every day and they, more than many, seem to be a living link to our primordial past. Listening to their raw, throaty calls and seeing their pterodactyl-like silhouette in flight, it's easy to imagine oneself transported back to the days of the dinosaurs. I'm not really known as a wildlife painter, but never say no to something new and certainly enjoyed doing this.

I've been away since before the House Tour, but had heard you (and your model) had a great day, and it's wonderful to see the result in your last post. Beautifully done, Judy!

This triptych, as well as the individual panels, works spectacularly -- a real treat for all of us heron fans
